I. Introduction
The incumbent reports to the Special Representative of the Secretary General
/Chief of the OAS Special Mission. The primary purpose of the position is to
assist the Chief of Mission.
II. Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent will :
Accompany the SRSG/Chief of Mission to meetings and write reports on these
meetings
Represent the OAS Special Mission at
meetings/seminars/conferences with Haitian officials, civil society, national
and international NGOs, UN, and the diplomatic community.
Draw up briefing notes and papers for the SRSG/Chief of
Mission on topics related to the work of the Mission.
Organize appointments and attend appointments with members
of the donor and the international community
Draft assessment papers, reports, briefing papers, talking
points, statements, speeches, meeting notes , etc.
Draft and distribute agenda for meetings. Take notes at
these meetings
Draft correspondence and responses to correspondence for
the SRSG/Chief of Mission
Interpret into French for the Chief of Mission
Liaise with OAS Headquarters and provide requested
information
Disseminate information as well as policy decisions on
substantive matters transmitted from Headquarters.
Peruse the print media for references to the OAS, the OAS
Special Mission. Advise the /SRSG Chief of Mission of the contents of such.
Other duties as required by the SRSG/Chief of Mission
III. Qualifications
Education
An advanced university degree in
international relations, political science, public policy, law, social sciences
or a related field of study. A first degree with a relevant combination of
academic and professional qualifications will also be acceptable.
Experience
A minimum of 5 years of
progressively responsible experience in international relations,. Previous
experience with an international organization would be an asset.
Language
Fluency in English and French.
Knowledge of Spanish and Haitian Creole a definite advantage.
Competencies
Excellent report writing and computer skills are required.
Ability to work individually or in a team in a
multicultural environment a must.
